NAME & AGE: Four; mentally and physically in her mid-teens, actually two years old as she is a created being
CANON & CANON POINT: Drakengard 3, Branch A (after summoning Armaros)
CANON INFORMATION: Drakengard 3 Wiki Page / Four Wiki Page

PERSONALITY: (As the base game focuses more on Zero's story, I will be drawing a lot from Four's Novella, other supplemental materials, and the DLC chapter set before the game that has her as the focus, all are canon sources.)

When it comes down to it, Four is the epitome of the phrase "I'm not like other girls".

Which is to say, a lot of who she perceives herself is in comparison to others. The easiest place to start is with her relationship with her sisters, which is most accurately described as ambivalent. She loves and admires them, constantly aware of their good traits. She strives to be like the second oldest, One, who is the most mature. She's aware of Two's charming nature and Three's gorgeous hair. Even Five, the sister that aggravates her the most has at least something worth commending even if it's just her shamelessness. The game starts in earnest with the oldest sister, Zero, coming to kill them all for reasons unknown. She's chased down by Zero in her chapter, and once she's caught they have this exchange.

"I... I have no wish to fight you, Sister."

Oh? - Zero

"Don't you know how much I admire you, Zero? I always have! This can't end in bloodshed! It can't!"

However, nearly ever compliment she gives them is accompanied with judgement. In her mind, Two will probably get taken advantage of, Three is a "certifiable loon", and Five is... well, Five is all manner of unfortunate things. No matter how pleasant Four is on the outside, she sees the bad in people even if they don't have anything visibly "wrong". And if this applies to her sisters, it applies to her as well. In spades.

To explain this properly, I need to explain the nature of what she is. Four and her sister are Intoners, who can use magic through the power of song. They are so powerful they are worshiped as goddesses, and indeed, sought to help the world with their powers. But being an Intoner comes with the rapid growth of a certain body part or function. Her sisters deal with the growth of their senses, muscles, hair, and breasts. As for Four, her nails grow rapidly and she hates it so much she fights with her fists just to keep them from growing, and is never seen without her gloves.

"And these horrid nails! I hate them so much I just want to die. They keep growing and growing and get all curly and weird if I don't clip them, or else they crack or they get caught on everything. They're useless and I wish I could just rip them straight off. My arms are useless, my legs are useless, my face is useless—all of me is useless!"

But still, she does have something over her siblings. Her precious virginity.

Another... quirk of being an Intoner is having an extremely increased sex drive. It's such a problem that each Intoner has a Disciple to aid them, and while they help with other things,  they're typically used to sate the Intoner's desires. While Four has Decadus, a man fully dedicated to this, she remains a virgin. No matter what the true reason for that, it indicates a strong will. It's widely accepted that she stays pure to have something to lord over her sisters. Considering how much she disdains Five for her overt sexuality, and how poorly she compares herself to them at times, that seems to be the case. But it may also stem from a desire not to have to depend on others. Or at least, not to appear that she does.

"A true frail maiden receives protection without having to put on an act.
Like Two.
"

Lady Four, if you are weary, please climb upon my back. - Decadus

"N-no! If I did that, it would look like everything I just said was an act!
I can take take of my own body... unlike Five."

So if he isn't being intimate with Four, then how is her relationship with Decadus? He fights by her side, and is reliable, listening to her complaints (and boy, she has a lot of those) and going along with her even if he disagrees. A closer glimpse is given in his Novella, and indeed, he loyally swears his life to her. But Decadus is a masochist of the highest order, constantly referring to his tendencies. Four's response to this is to either tell him to cut it out or ignore him entirely, and she resents him for it. She sees his devotion to her as simply a vehicle for him to get what he wants, and because of this she won't allow him any closer to her than a platonic companion.

Even if she would like to. Her door is never actually locked to him, and this is what she has to say (think) about him in her dying moments (Let Me Tell You, Lvl 9).

"Actually, I don't have much to say about him. It's not like I actually always wanted him to come into my bed at night, or that I actually was really interested in sexual talk, or that I wanted him to act more forward and take charge or anything..."

Four is rather a expert of presenting herself the way she should be, and not admitting her own desires. She's spoken of as a good ruler of the Land of Mountains, but she doesn't actually care about the people. She speaks of true love being soft and strong, but her own love for people is mixed with a horrid level of envy. She seems like a valiant lady and knight for justice, but in reality she's a massive hypocrite. Her self-image is skewed to where she can't truly see her worst qualities or her best ones, making her quite a piece of work psychologically.

"I just wanted to thank you. You've been very helpful lately."

Well I'll be damned, a grateful Intoner. - Gabriella (a dragon aiding the Intoners)

"I know my sisters take it for a given when others help them... but not me. I have the conscience- and the common sense- to appreciate your help."

However, she is capable of showing gratitude, and seeks it in kind. In a later chapter, she complains to Decadus about not feeling appreciated by One. Most of her efforts in helping the world are for One's sake, wanting to be like her, wanting her praise. And because she's fighting for such a good cause, she feels warranted in the actions she takes. As she cuts men down (with her fists), she laments them not listening to her, and is regretful that this has to be the case. But she's "in the right", so it's fine. They're the bad guys.

It's the same justification she has when she shoots down a group of fleeing elf pirates as they begged for their lives, despite Gabriella and Decadus's protests.

In her mind, they aren't human and don't deserve the considerations humans do. While she slaughters them, Four sounds more and more excited, culminating in her laughing madly. According to her, "this is the hammer of justice at work". She's someone that can justify even the most terrible actions to herself if she feels she's in the right. After all, it's for the greater good.

The only other time she's mentions enjoying herself is in the Novella, after Five has gotten under her skin. It's in the midst of a complete complete rage, and her gentle nature goes out the window. All her inner grievances are let out as she throws things at Five and screams vulgarities (like bitchcow, of all things). Her thought process goes from how much she hates her sisters (for what they have) to how much she hates herself (for what she has) and back again. But soon she's back to cleaning, to repressing, to being a good younger sister.

Which is ultimately what seals her fate in the end (as least, in Branch A). When Zero finally gets to her, she acts as if she's being controlled by a split personality. Four trusts her, and runs to give her a hug, happy that her sisters can be reunited. Except Zero is lying, and Four ends up gutted by a sword, paying the price for her own naivety and longing for normalcy.

On the surface, Four is simply a loyal, kind young lady. Underneath, her psyche is twisted, and she often proves to at least as hateful as she is loving, especially to herself. She acts as both her own champion and worst enemy, and her constant denial of her own nature and desires keeps her from being anything more than her self-given role as the dutiful sister. The tug-of-war with herself can be summed up with one last quote.

"Maybe...I'm useless.

Me? Useless? No! I'm not the one who's useless!"

COURT ALLIANCE & REASONING: Two dollar you call it, mods! Four is a very complex, and in some cases contradictory person, and I can see her being in either Court for various reasons.

On one hand, Four would most likely consider herself aligned closer to Seelie views. After all, in her mind, everything she does is for the love of her sisters. She and her sisters actively deposed of and replaced corrupt rulers, and she thinks of herself as honorable and just. Beauty is something she recognizes well, even at the expense of her own self-esteem. The tenants of courtly love appeal to her (she tells her companion that they're closer for not being intimate), and she would value the code and uphold it through her actions for the most part.

However, she also believes in being a force for change (see: actively taking over lands), and isn't beyond using violence to do so. Truth be told, she seems to prefers it. While she doesn't brag over being considered a goddess, she does treat most people as beneath her, not actually caring for the people under her rule. The honorable front she presents is a lie in ways, covering up her more hateful tendencies and thoughts. The major obstacle to her being Unseelie is Passion before Duty, as she intentionally represses both her sexual desires and her true feelings about things.

ABILITIES: Four is an Intoner, they have the ability to use magic through Song, and are very strong physically (enough to take on armies with only a Disciple and the occasional dragon for help). All their specific abilities are not defined, but these are shown over the course of the game. (There are powered by the parasitic flower inside them, though none of them are aware of the flower's true nature but Zero.)

Strengths

+ Intoners have the ability to enthrall people into compliance/obedience using their Song. Upon the Intoner's death, the enthralled will go mad and die.)

+ An Intoner can only be killed/hurt by a dragon or a weapon made of dragon bone.

+ Intoners have the ability to go into a "super mode" which enhances their strength and combat abilities. This is powered by the blood of defeated enemies.

+ With the aid of a Disciple, an Intoner can summon Angels. Four can summon Armaros (a floating fortress with a supply of wyverns) and Zophiel (a daemon dragon). When completely possessed by the flower, they can summon without aid.

+ Intoners have regenerative abilities with non-dragon related injuries.

+ Intoners have the ability to make a shield with their Song.

Weaknesses

- Intoners have an extremely high sex drive.

- Each one of them has a part of their body that grows at a dangerous rate, for Four it is her nails.

- They each have a parasitic flower inside them that is slowly taking over their minds, which will eventually end with them destroying the world.

-/+ They also have the ability to resurrect, but there is a chance of coming back as undead.

INVENTORY:

NETWORK SAMPLE: [She doesn't really need advice on battle. Four's been fighting since she was a child, and while war wasn't something she was familiar with, it wasn't the most pressing thing on her mind at the moment. She'd been in the middle of something when she'd been brought here, after all.]

I hate to bother you all, but do any of you have any experience with a sibling being upset with you? My sister won't listen to reason, and I'm not sure what more I can do to get her to calm down and talk.

[Was  Zero even here? No. Was this going to bother Four until a solution presented itself despite that? Absolutely.]

My other sisters don't seem to care at all, which somehow doesn't surprise me... but family's supposed to get along. She was always so supportive before. But I won't go on and burden you too much with my problems, I'm aware there are more pressing ones.

Still, if anyone has any advice I'd be grateful, and in your debt. Unlike some people, [Who still aren't here, and she has to get used to that.] I'm not the type to just take without giving anything in return.
